Let's explore Mammoth!

haha... suddenly so motivated to update my blog now. let's see wat pictures i can find for the viewing pleasure of u guys.

this is the gym we have here. they are playing dodgeball. well... mammoth is one of the smaller villages of the 5 in Yellowstone. Basically, the only forms of entertainment they provide ard here is the gym and the pub. heh...

this is our post office. cute building...

there's a visitor's centre here. and they have a museum there with displays of the various types of wildlife present in the park. i hope they are juz dummies and not the real preserved thing. *sour face* urgh... (the actual size of the bison shown here is really hUgE)

this is the other side of the hot spring. it's a longer walk from the dorm. but it's much prettier. the pictures here are in a 12th may folder. it's much drier and smoky-ier then. i juz re-visited these places like couple of days ago. it's summer now. so less smoky and more water and you can see everything more clearly. Pretty!

anyway, i have a really cute n memorable picture taken here, depicting the smell of the place. haha... but it's in grace's camera and i'm lazy to search for it now. will put it up the next time. =P
ok. finally got all the photos uploaded. n i need to get into bed immediately le. i was late for work again today for the 3rd time. heard tt 5 times n u'll b fired. sighz... terrible. n i still haven had enuf sleep. wat's wrong with me? i really wonder... heh... kz. have a good nite everyone!

SteP into Mammoth VilLagE

For those who have no idea where or what Yellowstone is, here's a short intro:
Yellowstone lies between the state of Montana and Wyoming. It's 3 times bigger than Singapore. It's a National Park and has 5 villages. The whole park is in fact a huge active volacano (cool rite?). and here's a map of it:
Oh, there a few entrances to Yellowstone National Park (YNP). Mammoth village is actually the village that has a small town nearest to it. That is, Gardiner. It's about a 15mins drive down from Mammoth to Gardiner. But it takes almost 2hrs to hike down there. Going down is probably still fine. but coming up. hoho. good luck. it's a pretty steep climb man. but i haven tried it so far. i'd normally rather hitch a ride. And the locals are usually quite ok about hitch hikers. however, it really depends on your luck. you might juz meet a lot of unfriendly peeps...

anyway, back to when we 1st got to Mammoth, had to settle all e admin stuff. but juz as we were waiting for housing to be allocated, we spotted this:
haha... so cute. they can run really fast. heh... but after a while, you realize that they are everywhere. juz like the many elks and buffalos around. and they are pests. why? that's for another time. i'll have an entry on all the wildlife i saw here. =)

this is what you will see from the road. the yellow-white looking thing in the background is a hot spring. at the hot spring area, there a boardwalks for you to go aroung and look at the hot spring.

a close up of the yellow-white piece of rock shown above. the white stuff is actually some calcium stuff precipitated from the water. and dun think that it looks all so nice nice. you should be there to smell it. see all the yellow-brown stuff? that's sulfur. go smell some rotten eggs when you are looking at these photos. it'll second to as good as being there. =P

these are all photos of what i saw on the 1st day here. the yellow-white stone thing, is the only 'attraction' that is within walking distance. the other stuff gotta wait til you can get a car ride. sadz hoh...?

then finally, for this day, we had pizza for dinner. din know they stop serving dinner at 6.30pm. so early lo... alwaz getting hungry here at night. and getting fat. ok, this is a story for another time. shall have another entry purely and fully on me getting so fat, and fat, and FAT. anyway, here's a nice photo. cowgal! haha... i dunno wat's the thing about cowboy hats, but all the sporeans get so excited seeing one. so basically, there was this one hat that a wrangler (a guy who's working with horses) had. and all of us took a photo with it.

got cowgal sei ma? heh...

yeah!! i'm finally done with uploading one folder. haha... i organize my photos according to the date i upload them into my laptop. well, this is the end of the 1st folder of photos. marked 8th may. (diaoz.)

jules~ Stays HeRe!

checked out xanga le. they have so many more choices and so much more nicer blog skins la. but... when asked my roomie abt it, she said that blogger is more user-friendly.

well, i was considering changing to moving this blog to xanga cos blogger dun allow me to change my blog skin (!). but after trying to post there, i guess i'll juz stick to the familiar la. lazy to spend more time trying to figure out how to use xanga. so... good bye to nice blog skins. gotta make do with the ugly ones that blogger offers. but i'm not all that lazy k. i spent some time personalizing the font and color and watever idiot-proof stuff that i can change le.

anyway, i'm going to play badminton le. will check in here another time. dun think i'll write tonite though. so sleepy... wanna sleep early. working at 5am tom. sighz... ciao for now! =)

One nite in Bozeman

this is when we spent a nite in Holiday Inn in Bozeman before taking a bus ride of around 2hrs to Yellowstone the next day...
*damn this photo, took like an hr to upload, this sux... bleah; puke! (!#%^&@#%*#!^$!%^&*)*
this was taken at the place where to stopped to settle our social security stuff. it's a govt 'building' (looks more like a house actually) tuck within housing area. almost all e houses dun have fences. i din even know whether i was trespassing into any private property at all. anyway, cos it was a housing area, a lot of pp act grew lots of pretty n colorful flowers all ard the area. tt was y i was taking photos of so many flowers. anyway, when i 1st saw these daffodils, i was so excited. cos can blow! then the white stuff will flutter thru air. haha... but thinking abt it, they r act weeds. and seriously, there are juz too many of them ard. plus, they also become ugly when all the seeds (white stuff) are gone. so... but, still nice for the 1st time. =)

this was the Holiday Inn i was talking about above. and opposite this is a huge WalMart! Let me warn you... WalMart is EVIL(!!!) - it bankrupts you and makes you fat. yet u cant live without it. *irony*

okie... and this part, will be the beginning of WalMart Escapade. here goes -
this is one of the entrances to walmart. got 2 entrances i tink. and one exit. it juz stretches across a whole big carpark.

haha... dunno why, everyone here is mad about cowboy hats. we found some in walmart and decided to grab and pose with them. will get one when i'm leaving here, juz for souvenir's sake. that's me on the left, for those who dun already know (duh!), and my newfound wonderful frenz - grace and jeff aka jian feng (he dun have eng name, but come US muz get ang mo mia)
guess wat? it's not about the 2 hysterical gals smiling to the freezer hoh...

Ben & Jerry's FOUND! and... only $2.94!!!! aren't you guys in sg all getting envious? hahaha... but cannot eat too much. Heng Bozeman very far from Yellowstone, and around Yellowstone neva sell cheap B&J's. else... sighz... i dun wanna become supersize ME!

then wat follows? of cos buy la!! but u guys know wat? i bet it was like zero degrees outside lo. and look at wat we were wearing. eating ice cream somemore. hoho... fear factor. dare you. =P u juz can't see how we were shivering to no ends lo.

best thing is, this was wat we were doing. trying to take cool photos by making adjustments to Jeff's zai camera. i hav no idea how long we stayed out there for, but in e end, we were all running back to the warmth of Holiday Inn. nice photo hoh? after some many attempts. hard work man.... GOOD JOB guys! this really will be one of the most memorable thing I did in Bozeman. It was really really fun! Thanx to Grace and Jeff. =D
btw, I'm planning to have an entry where I'll introduce all my frenz. but muz wait la. good things are worth waiting for. heh...

okie, and this final photo is specially for my Bee Bee. Yang boi boi found!! super cute leh... know how we found him? there was this small inn with a main door and a side door. the side door was locked. then this little boi was knocking on the door from the inside, calling for attention, while we were on the outside walking along the streets. we ended up walking into the family inn and playing with the boi boi, whose parents were probably the owners of the inn. he has a younger brother too. but not as cute. heh... still fun to play with the both of them though. (^_^)

Prayer Journal~ ThanX!

My safe arrival to this faraway place from home... I have to thank God for all these. Thank Him for showing grace. Praise Him always. Without Him, we are all nothing. Without Him, nothing is eternal. Without Him, everything will be meaningless. =)

N to those who were at the airport to send me off - Zhangqi, Serene, Caleb - thank you for taking the time and effort to send me off at the airport. Deeply appreciated. =) And to dear Zhangqi, thanx for getting all my fav snacks. i still have them with me now, cos i can't bear to finish them. will keep them away from my gluton-y for as long as i can. thanks to all who had kept me in their prayers. I will keep yours in mine too.

and of cos, i wun forget my dear Bee, who came over to my place before i left for the airport on the day itself. n she bought me a pink voodoo doll! tt i said was v cute when we went out shopping. haha... my dear is so attentive lo. to me! =P it'll be staying in my luggage to pei my stitch while i'm travelling ard US of A! heh...

sorrie that this entry is wordy. sad that i dun have pics with my dear frenz b4 i left. sighz... and sorrie to those who came to the airport, and when i was in a frenzied state. i'm alwaz bad at arriving at the airport on time. sighz... To myself: shld try harder next time.

fly from Singapore Changi Airport -- taipei airport -- san francisco airport -- salt lake city airport -- bozeman airport -- bozeman bus to yellowstone = 65hrs to reach Yellowstone fr Sg. =/

This is taipei airport. This is the stop-over from sg to san francisco. we had a couple of hours there, so we were walking around. i think it was only ard 8pm but most of the shops were closed le lo. oh... n i rem we were hungry but can't find any food. then we smelt this frangrant aroma of beef noodles. but it was like more than $10USD lo. hell.... This picture was taken outside some electronic shop. like a super big transformer toy. so cute. haha...

This is san francisco airport. we had to spend 12hrs overnite there waiting for the next connecting flight. it was a sunday some more. which means most of the shops were closed. it was bad... like took their sky train kinda thing for dunno how many rounds lo. heh...

The sunrise at san francisco airport...
